Loud Beep

I did check to see if someone else posted this before and couldn't find an answer.

I've been getting a interuption during my playback, a loud beap. The playback keeps going and is right on time when the beap is over. Any one know what could be causing this?

Equipment used

Software: Adobe Audition 2.0
Soundcard: Mackie Onyx firewire 1640 board (sample rate 24ms)
Computer HP Pavillion ze4500 Laptop (1 gb memory)
Western Digital external hard drive.
 
could be your motherboard warning you that you are approaching a heat threshold over which it will shut down. Open your BIOS up and see what your auto shutdown settings look like. If it is heat, get some air moving through that case.
