Looking for a sound-card breakout box setup that will work with VIA chipset and WinXP

The more I'm reading the more I'm finding out that the VIA chipset sucks for recording...seems like I chose the wrong upgrade option on my computer. Is there any good soundcards with breakout boxes that work well with WinXP and the AMD VIA chipset?? I don't wanna spend a ton(as usual) but I just want something that works and doesn't have horrible driver support.

VIA chipsets mobos, used for AMD cpu seems to be OK.

VIA chipset are problematic when they are on an Intel cpu setup.

so you should be ok :)
