you could go fender-relic and leave them as is and that would be cool too.
according to fender all beaten up increases the value several hundreds of dollars for a relic version.

man as long as they work, that wouldn't bother me at all how they looked...kind of cool "as is", usually collectors like original too. but that's another game I don't play.
