Live recording

Help!
I want to record 8 tracks of live drums with bass and guitar all playing together. How do I do this if I can only bring in 8 tracks at a time? I don't want to crank up the bass and guitar and have it bleed into the drum mix. Will I need a separate mixer and if so what would you suggest?

best way i know is to use a multi channel mixer, mine is 12 channels, i mix up everything, mix to my taste on headphones, and record.....

Obvious....

You could record the drums with less mics. I'm no expert but I'm sure there are great ways of placing a minimal number of mics to get a tip top drum recording...
