I was thinking about getting a USB interface and I was looking at the Line 6 Toneport UX8 and the Tascam US-1641. I like the Toneport one because of the VU meters and the 8 TRS outs and the DI for guitars but the Tascam one has the same amount of XLR and is cheaper. Any advice?
Check the Tascam forum.. I shipped my US-1641 back to the shop.. 50+ Euros extra costs to return it to them, but I should get my money back from them.. they I'll get a firewire interface.. USb and firewire do work totally different and Firewire is much more reliable. I supposed that if Tascam is coming with a unit like this it should be willing to work.. well it does work, but very unstable and unreliable with respect to latency and totally crappy on the slower/less heavy computer systems (like a 2 year old laptop).. Go for FW if you can.
