Let's Get A Little Jazzy, Shall We ?

An online friend of mine was giving away a Tascam 424 Mk II. I already have a Mk III so I figured being the gear-a-holic that I am, I would take it (pay the 30.00 dollars from Cali Fed Ex and keep it for a spare)

In this digital age, tape for most is so passe' but I like it's warmth better than any of my digital rigs. I've made many recordings using the Mk III so I made this one I'm gonna' post right now on the Mk II. The sound quality of this machine is eons better than the Chinese made Mark III. I couldn't believe. DBx is noise free. The Mk III always seemed noisy. I'm just wondering what was the big difference in the older machine?

Anyhow, check out this production of "In A Grey Mood.......(For Kevin B)" Comments as always are welcome and expected. This a kind of not-quite-smooth jazz thing but it has a sweet groove to it. Check it out:

If this link doesn't work, just got to my SoundClick site and click the music link. You'll find the song that way too. That link is:

You won't get much help from me as far as a critique goes, but I love it. Don't change a thing. Great guitar playing!

Mr. M!

Nice pickin'! I like the groove of the intro and outro.

It seems that everything is scrunched in the center of the stereo expanse. You might try panning stuff to the sides, maybe? Also, some of the cymbal crashes are a bit harsh.

Are you playing everything?

Who let George Benson loose in here?

Nice recording and playing

Analog rules!

Yeah a real nice vibe to this one. I agree that you could spread the instruments out a bit, use more of the stereo field. Seems to be a bit of a boost in the high mids which is making things sound a little harsh. Cool piece
