My band used to do this.... ala SRV/El Mocambo. I wasn't real keen on the idea but the guys in the band urged me to make it part of our Hendrix medley. So I purchased an inexpensive Squire Strat that was used specifically for TSFTS. I beat the shit out of that thing for about 2 years until it literally split in two. I glued it back together but it was never the same.
