I think these things are a great value in their price range. But my one complaint is that their 'rim' system makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to use any sort of mic clamp on the rack toms. Which is really annoying for me when I'm doing sound.

are you using mic clamps on the rims for recording?

and yes, they are fair drums. I have a pair. They are no DWs, but they sure can take a beating.

No, just when I'm doing live stuff. But I thought I'd put it out there since most guys use their kits for both live and recording.
