Is my mobilepre messed up?

Good day,

I bought a mobile pre on friday. I loaded all the drivers and then plugged in my accoustic guitar and listened to it on my headphones and it sounded great. I went to record it using n-track (www.n-track.com). When I went to play the recorded tracks, they sounded very garbled and distorted, even though I was not clipping in my software or on the mobilepre.

On saturday I plugged the 1/8" stereo input to the outs of a mixer using a "y adaptor" (I only plugged in the left rca to the board) I used the right xlr input (with phantom power) plugged into an AKG c1000s to use as a room mic. The result was a garbled distorted sound that on playback was twice as fast as it sound be. It sounded like the band was playing at hyper speed.

I used a different laptop for the second situation, so I am confident it is not my laptop (omnibook xe3, PIII 850, 396mb ram). On saturday I used my friends laptop (he also has a mobilepre and uses n-track as well) but when I used my mobilepre it did not work.

Is there a problem with my mobilepre?
