Is MXR zw-44 a Boss SD-1 ripoff ?

A friend of mine said that MXR`s ZW-44, zakk wylde signature pedal, is nothing but a SD-1 in a new encasing ?
Is that truth ? Some people who bought it said it has much more punch than the SD-1. Also, I couldn`t find any schematics to compare them.

With all those sites writing about tubescreamer circuits, sd-1 mods, etc, I really feel unsure to pick such pedal.
From all reviews I read about ZW-44, most of them were pretty positive, none compared with sd-1.
I will try to find someone willing to lend me one to give a try.

Most reviewers are morons.

Check otu the Landgraf Overdrive pedal. Its a tubescreamer with a diode selector. Well, that and with a $400 price tag.

It might be a great pedal, but it would be nice if the reviewers pointed that shit out while saying how amazing it is how the components are so well layed out and how amazing it is he got it all in there and how its built like a tank.

Well if they know all that then they they should know that they don't know shit.
