IRQ conflict with XP home

My RME soundcard is sharing an IRQ ( 16 ) with my graphics card. I am getting short dropouts every few minutes or so when I track and am wondering if the IRQ sharing may be responsible. If anyone knows how to change the IRQ assignments in Windows XP home edition, I would appreciate it

Have you tried installing the RME in any of the other PCI slots?
If the above fails to help, you could look into adjusting the PCI latency on the two devices. Read through this thread from Sound on Sound for a better understanding of PCI latency.

The second or third slot from the Video card should be ok, although these probably share with USB or Network (disable Network adapter in the bios if you don't use it). Sharing with USB seems to work ok in my experience.
