Hey thanks - that was a fun read. I like the side chain idea with a distortion processor to control the knee and work down the crest a bit (by decimating the peaks in the side chain). Also the m/s compression looks fun - I guess Endorphin (VST plugin) has that, any otheres ?

Cool - I've seen this one before since it's from 1999 as I remember the salesman story, hehe I've done this to myself lots of times. The details make more sense now though !
