According to page 11 of the manual that we all just downloaded, the 488 would appear to have a maximum of 4 microphone input channels and the remainder being line level inputs only.
So, to do what you were wanting, you would have to have an external Mic pre-amp to convert one of the remaining channels, (5 - 8), that don't have the pre's built into the mixer's channel strips.
Otherwise, sure. No problem.
Just assign all the drums to one or two tracks using the pan and assign buttons and the guitar to the channel of your choice on a different buss then the drums are being routed to.
