input level signal meter does not move when recording audio via sblive card.

hi,

what am i doing wrong? I want to play my synth directly to an audio track without using any midi. My synth is connected to the line in on my sblive card. When i play i can hear my synth through my pc speakers,but when i insert audio track and arm that track for recording,the input signal level meter does not show any movement. I turned my sblive mixer input volume,synth volume,and track volume up as high as possible.when i insert midi tracks and record software synths via midi,the input level signal works fine.

Im using sblive 5.1 with windows 2k.
 
When you say you "I turned my sblive mixer input volume" does that mean you turned up the recording slider with the correct source chosen or just the input level?

your question just helped me answer my own question. I had the wrong source chosen for recording on my sblive mixer. thanks
