Hi everyone'

Okay,

I've hooked my 4 track to my computer and transferred
existing tunes to Cakewalk Pro Audio.
The files are in the Cakewalk file.

I've downloaded Winamp and Thompson MP3 Pro.

Now,

I can download MP3 files successfully (now I got ears),but
I can't encode my files so you guys can hear.
I know it has something to do with the way I'm managing
my files -----------or maybe not.....

Help!!!!!

You need an MP3 encoder. Is that what Thompson does? If not you can purchase some for pretty cheap or download some shareware and trial versions.

There is probably an add on that will allow you to do it in Cakewalk also.

Hi TexRoadKill,

This Thompson MP3Pro Audio Player I got off the MP3.com
site. It's supposed to be an encoder but when I run the
encode command, it can't find the file I want to encode.
If that makes any sense.

what i do is use the mixdown feature in cakewalk and create a wave file, and then use xing audio catalyst to encode the wave file to mp3. cakewalk has an mpe codec, but mine never works right for me, and i've been using audio catalyst for a long time so i trust it.

winamp

winamp is a mp3 encoder as well, read the read me or the help section of it on converting. It's somewhere in there. Trust me.

Hi everyone,

I got both Winamp and this Thompson thing off MP3.com.

I get the impression they are both audio players only
even though the Thompson thing claims to encode as well.

Thanks mikeyc222 for the tip on creating a wave file. I
wasn't doing that.

Does anyone know how I go about getting an MP3
encoder free or do I have to buy one?

The free Thompson encoder encodes at 64Kbps only.

But it does do a nice job- they sound very close to the mp3.com standard of 128Kbps.

The interface is very minimalist. You hit the encode button and then you have to "browse" for your file by clicking on the ellipsis "..." symbol to the right of the place where you can also type in the filename and path.

hello!
go here it's an mp3 plyer program but if you go to file-convert you can convert your .wavs to .mp3s it works really well and it's free!

In a friend's copy of Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 we burn stuff to mp3 from within the program.

Try Tools -> Mixdown Audio -> Export to File. In the type box, see if mp3 is availible.

I don't know much about Cake, though, so maybe not all versions support that.
