If my MOBO fried one of MY CPU's does that automatically mean the MOBO is bad?

I have a dual athlon mp MOBO and the other day it fried one of my newly installed athlon mp 2800+ but the other one was fine. I'm returning and exchanging it for a athlong 64package :D , but i digress. Could the cpu 'blow up' be because of defective CPU? or must I assume the MOBO? i'm a lil wary to try and see with my older 1900's MP's because I wouldn't want them to blow up on me checking.

Thanks

I don't think so because both cooling devices on each cpu seemed to be working identically

Man, that sucks.....

Could be a bad CPU, bad Mobo, or Bad PS. I'd atleast have the PS checked (speaking from experience). Most comp stores will do it for free.

Good Luck,

well i bought a new PSU cuz i thought the old one was smoking(which was probably just the CPU maybe both). I still have the old CPU's which i know aren't(or at least weren't) defective. That should be a good way to see if my mobo is good and if its bad hopefully it won't blow up these cpus!
