Those two will both work as a preamp for Guitar - for mic input you would need a mic preamp. They have normally cleaner circuitry and are designed for low impedance mics, with or without phantom power.
The only way you could possibly use the pod or j-station with a mic would be if you had a high impedance mic with a 1/4" plug. Even then, the gain would probably NOT be adequate.
