Hello..
I recently sold an older consumer grade yamaha integrated amp I was using for my studio setup. It had been around for years, and I just got tired of the way it sounded. I need some recommendations for a replacement amplifier. I've got a Fostex vm200/vr800 setup that I record onto, and I use two of the slightly older Tannoy PBM 6.5 speakers for monitoring and such. I was looking at the Alesis Models, specifically the RA300 and RS300. I saw that Behringer has one that's very similiar, but seems like total overkill at 250w/ch. I want something that sounds really punchy, sized at two spaces for rack mounting, and with good headroom. My budget is roughly $200-$400 for this replacement amp. Samson seems to have some good ones too, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything out there that's good.
