I love soldering together my own cables

I do. I love poking my finger with a miniature pike and burning some other fingers touching too-hot metal. I love knowing that, in the end, I've saved myself several dollars on cables that wouldn't be the right lengths anyway.

Oh, and I love soldering back together a POS Shure Prologue that my son likes to carry around the studio, drop, pick up, drop again and then hammer on the floor with. As I was putting the element back into place, the top metal cover fell off revealing the diaphram. No wonder it sounded like crap, there was glue on the diaphram.

I, too, enjoy this. I would even go out of my way, and pay more, just to spite everyone, to make my own cables. I use Carol cable to make my insturment cables, it's better than Philmore, or whatever.
