He has a mint 197????? Gibson Explorer,... Artist version.....

Very few made,...... He thinks less than 100,.........on this model......


Where can I go to get an idea of what it's worth,...???

I am looking on Ebay as I am posting this,... but so far, the only completed auction for an Explorer is for a 1998 model.....

Unless you have a lot of history selling on EBay, you are not going to be able to get top dollar for it. Go through a reputable dealer - even with the comision, you are likely to come out the better for it.

This guy has a pretty good site and it may help you out with proper identification, then it will be easier to search pricing info:

If you have a reputable vintage guitar dealer in your area, take it to them for an appraisal. I'd tell them it was for insuring it, though... ;^)
