What vocal effect is being used here? It's on SO many of the NBHD's songs! It's present on all of his vocals in this song I think, but the effect is most prominent from 00:34 to 00:52 It has baffled me but then again I'm pretty new to music production and vocal editing. The song is "The Neighbourhood - #icanteven ft. French Montana"

Any help is appreciated, thanks everyone

It's sort of a telephone/AM radio effect. Use a combination of bandpass filtering and distortion. I usually apply the bandpass filter (say, 300Hz-4kHz), then distortion, then a low pass filter to take the highs out of the distortion. To match your sample I might make the first filter a low pass at 4k, leaving the LF unaffected.

A guitar amp sim might do the trick as well.

There also seems to be a short delay. There may be a second copy of the vocal track with different effects, mixed under the first track.

I definitely noticed the distortion. you answered my question spot on! Thank you very much
