Hypothetical midi to audio question

If I had a soundcard with multiple outputs and inputs, which I am planning to purchase soon enough, would I be able to take midi tracks going out, put them through effects processors, etc., then put them back into the soundcard recording as a wav? I was just wondering about this.

Well, not to make a pun here (for once!) but you're using mixed metaphors. If you have a MIDI track, what is creating the audio from the MIDI? If it's an external keyboard or module, no problem. If it's your old sound card, no problem. But many soundcards with multiple (i.e. more than two, anyway) outputs don't have any MIDI processing on board.
