HS2002 metronome question

I have a delta66+omni soundcard and HS2002 sequencer s/ware. I have an Evolution 361C midi controler, connected using USB.

I want the cakewalk metronome to trigger a drum sound in VSC setting it up as a a Dxi triggered from the midi track & controler. It doesn't appear that I can do that, in spite of instructions in the Help file that suggests that it can. I guess it means a midi instrument or external module, not a mere controler?

Does Sonar 3 solve this problem?

I believe not. Although there is newgroup talk of an audio metronome similar to Ping DXi being released with another patch or more likely, full release.

I would suggest opening session drummer and picking a file that has "click"as a pattern and using that to trigger a DXI.
Another option is to create a groove clip.
No doubt the metronome and freeze functions will be a pat of Sonar 4.Cakewalk has got to save something for each new upgrade.
