How to Unlink Events from Automation - Cubase 6

Hey folks,

Quick question:

Is there anyway to unlink track automation data from an audio or MIDI clip? So like when I drag an event onto a new track or move the event forwards or backwards in the timeline it doesn't drag a heap of automation data with it?

Thanks,

Zach

Just right click on the automation lane. Select 'Remove Selected Track'. Automation gone but the track is the same. Not sure about specific event moving.

Ah, didn't realize you could do that. It's a good tip for quickly removing automation data, but I'll generally have quite a few lanes going and was hoping for a hidden button somewhere that just unlinks the data from the event.... Would make sense that Cubase would have one as it'd save so much time over the course of a big session.

Thanks for the help, you've replied to a few of my threads over the years with useful information so I'd like to thank you for that as well haha :)

Hello,

It is in the preferences.
Cubase > Preferences if you are on a Mac
File > Preferences for the PC
Preferences > Editing > uncheck the box > Automation follows Events.

Best regards,
GN
