How to trap a studio question and desk set up questions

Whats up all?

My basement studio is basically a rectangle probably more long than square. I have my mixing area set at one long end facing looking out facing the drums and "live area". Is that a good way to have it or should the desk be facing the wall.

Also i am not to keen on setting bass traps and such but i am quite sure it is needed as well as other things. Is worth it to get a bunch of material for building traps and build them then place them sonically as needed. In other words, can you have too much trap or sound reinforcement.

Btw my current space is the thin cheap panel with no insulation underneath, its a basement, and with a drop ceiling

Depends what studio you're going for.

For the typical project studio...I find that a wire snare and a little bacon works best.
Of course, if you want to trap something bigger... ;)
