How to test Tascam MIDISTUDIO 688

I just bought a used beat up 688. The seller claimed it is working. I realized that the headphone out is not working. So I cannot really trust him on the condition he claimed.

So I need to test it to be sure if its the headphone out or other things too.

So any routine to completely test the most important functions?

It seems much much more difficult to use than the 424. So I would appreciate some help or a crash course on how to test if it records on all 8 channels basically.

Thanks

Hey there!
For testing your headphone-outputs, just plug in a microphone into channel 1,
set the input on mic (in the nice display), assingn channel one to group one.
son't forget the gain!
Now:
if you push the "group 1/2"-button at the monitor-assingments and turn up the "master" (that is for the headphones..) i hope you will hear the mic-signal.

you could also turn up the aux-signal, then the auxmaster and hit the aux-button .

and if you're not shure..: when the peakmeters in the right will light up but you won't hear any sound on your headphones, the outputs are broken.
