How to Edit and move data

I have pro tools 7 pc.
I have a drum track and a guitar track.
at the end of the song the drum ends and a second or so later the guitar ends.
I want to take the guitar ending note and bump it back until it lines up with the drums.
I am having a heck of a time figuring this out - I was hoping I could use the region selection tool and select the area on the guitar track and then move it back a bit. These are music tracks, not midi.

let me know if you need more information

thanks

Here is how I currently do this - there has to be an easier way

Copy the track I want to change

original track - cut out the section I need to work on
copied track - copied section I want to work on - paste it to the original track
original track-change the time start on this section until it is what I want.

Hi dwkman.

It's much simpler than doing what you've described!

All you have to do is click in the timeline at the point where you want to cut the audio and move it.
Once you are at the correct location, hit "Control + E" (PC) / "Command + E" (Mac) to cut/split the audio region. You can then click and slide (with the Smart tool) the latter region (with the last guitar note) to the right.

If you have keyboard focus on for the Edit window (the little 'A/Z' button in the top-right), you can just hit the "B" key to cut/split a region. This is what I do.

Let me know if you need more help.
