How is the Edirol UA-700?

How is this unit? I've looking into an m-Audio miobilePre and the Tascam 122 USB. i'm a beginner at computer recording. would this Edirol unit be able to do mic'ed amps, direct inputs, etc? thanks

It looks like an okay unit and Edirol drivers are pretty solid. I think it's pretty cheap because it's a USB1 unit, in contrast to today's multi-channel USB 2.0 units. I honestly haven't used it but it looks like it's right in line what what you want.

I used to use one with my notebook and I can say that it was a solid unit and got the job done. The pres are decent, and as a Bass/guitar di it's just fine. As for the modelling, you'll have to be the judge, I personally didn't like it.

I do not have one, but the price was interesting so I went to Froogle. MF is the only vendor, at this time, that Froogle shows that low. Everyone else is above four hundred.
