How do you deal with digital?

Hello,
I'm recording with the Lucid 9624 converters, and they are quite accurate, to say the least. Probably too accurate - many direct recorded sounds come out sounding to bright and shrill.

So, what do you do? a low pass filter on the overall mix? darker sounding tube compressors for tracking or at mixdown? Do you compensate at tracking or wait until mixdown?

Interested in any and all ideas.....

thanks,
Aaron

A simple roll off of the high frequencies is a pretty good imitation of "warmth".
Or a notch filter at certain "harsh" frequencies can also do wonders. Use a parametric EQ or graphic (31 band) for that.
Peace,
Rick
