A good thang...
Well since you have your sound module NOT running through MIDI...
As you stated it's running through the serial port(?) there is no need to split the channels - The two units are on completely different hookups - So you should be able to run a full 16 Channels on both units...
It's only when you daisy chain the instruments in our example where you will need to split up the channel configuration...
Purchasing a MIDI Patchbay as well - Will provide the same capability...
