How did you know you were ready to start recording the public? How did you know that you were ready?

Just a quick question that i was curious about!

Thanks,

First, when I listened back to stuff I had tracked and mixed, I didn't want to commit suicide by throwing myself on the neck of my guitar. But that was just the first part of the equation. Until I had a minimum of some half way decent equipment, I couldn't justify charging someone for services rendered.

At first I wasn't ready, but I asked a friend's band to come in to record 5 songs for free. I had just got a Yamaha AW4416 at the time and wanted to try it tout. Needless to say, it didn't turn out that great, but it let me know where to go and what to work on. You'll find that recording the public is completely up to you. Don't be afraid to make something sound like crap for the firs few times....

It happens to ALL of us....the trick is continuing to do it, and getting better, not worse...
