How can I get close to this acoustic guitar sound? (examples provided)

Any advice on how to get close to the acoustic guitar sound in the clip below?

This artist usually does acoustic guitar / vocals only recordings and they sound really good to me, I'd like to achieve a similar sound... any steps in the right direction would be appreciated !

Thanks

sounds like a U87 to me with no EQ or compression, the video is obviously not live, it is mimed with the studio track added later and synced like most pop music videos.

Yeah, the vocals were clearly overdubbed!

Now, the guitar seems pretty natural to me. Just like a standard sounding guitar sound, lol

Now, I suggest you to study acoustic guitar recording, so then when you're mixing it, you already have a good balanced sound. If so, you'll have little to change in mixing phase.

I'd say a good room, pair of ribbon mics, a compressor, and some quality reverb.

There are some good threads on the board about miking acoustics but here's a quick tip: The sounds come from every part of the guitar. Don't mic the sound hole. Point an cardioid xy pair at your 12th fret, or your bridge, or try a spaced pair of omni mics. Try different combinations and small changes in mic position and placement and instrument/artist position and placement. There is an optimum spot. Find it.

If you can get in touch with Timothy Lawler either on this board or on his website, he's probably the best person I know at recording fingerstyle guitar.
