Generally very good driver wise, not always the best in terms of the price/features ratio, but still good. If it means anything, the Cakewalk Sonar rig that moves around from place to place in the Sonar tour has used the DA-2496 and, more recently the UA-1000. If Cakewalk trusts it, I'm sure it's worth checking out.

I've got the Edirol FA-101 firewire interface myself... fantastic product, I use it live/studio/etc.. I haven't had a 'serious' problem yet. 
I don't know about the 24/96... there's a lot of similar products in that whole PCI 24/96 field. there are no GSIF drivers (that I know of)for edirol products, so don't use their products if you want to use Gigastudio. If your looking for general audio/midi recording, you should be satisfied. Just stay away from USB (IMHO).
