Horizontal monitor angel?

How much of an downwards angle can your monitor have before you get side-effects? Can the monitors be mounted high and pointed 45 degrees down at the listening position? Construction tips state that monitors should be angled downwards if they are mounted higher than the listening position but where is the limit?

As for the opposite, can your monitors stand on the floor, aimed upwards at the listening position?

Yes they can angle down Ola - especially when they are mounted above the control room window. The angle should be a tangent to the angle from the listening position thus the higher the monitor the greater the angle. I usualy work at the base of the monitor being 1.5m (5ft) from the floor. This helps stopping people walking in front of the monitor while you are working.
