Hi-Hat attachment to double bass set?

I'm thinking of expanding my kit to a double bass set and i was wondering about why people attach their hi hat to the left bass drum.

Umm ... because they play right handed.

Actually, it would be to get the foot-board of the hi hat right next to the bass pedal. At least that's why I would do it. Though, I opted for a double pedal over a second drum.

Because the stand is closed to make room for the extra bass drum.

a remote high-hat works good with a double set, you can put it any where in the kit you want, even play it right handed, hey have two HH's, it'll work.
