I would REALLY appreciate any help or suggestions on what to do next.

Sony Vaio Pentium 4 - 1.5 GHz - 60 GB HD - 256 MB RAM - DVD-ROM, CD-RW

Casio CTK-518 (MIDI capable)
Boss GT-3
Yamaha MT4X-4 Track
Plenty of Guitars

How bout a good recording program and a quality audio interface.
Isn't this a laptop ??

No it's a desktop. I downloaded N-track the other night. What do you suggest for the interface. I am looking to get by with minimal amount of damage to my wallet, and just make some decent demo's with guitar and keyboard (using this for drums too).

Something by M-Audio.

Yeah, I agree.
Depending on your requirements you could go with the audiophile but limited to 2 ins & outs.
Or, the 44, 66 or 1010 with 4 ins, 6 ins or 10 ins.

I know the vaio came with a soundcard (i845 chipset). But I suppose that I should upgrade. Any suggestions?

...Most of those nowdays mobo comes with Soundcard built in. If you're getting serious makin' music, you'll want to avoid using those built in. They built rather to gamers / multimedia user. Disable it either in BIOS setup, or by jumper if you find any trouble with that (reffer to your mobo's manual). The link I post should give you any idea on choosing the right one fit your need. Like Stealtech mentioned, it depends on what's your goal... and remember, the need may grow as you get into new tech...
