Here's a tune for y'all!

Roel

That SMART guy.
Here it is!

It's a tune from our budget budget demo. We recorded it live, in our rehearselplace. Which is a big hall. I'm gonna try get some pictures up. We put heavy curtains around the drum in a desperate attempt to dampen the awfull reverb.

Drums are recorded with 2 mics, one C3000b as OH, and one cheapo SM58 clone for kick. Guitars were recorded with SM57. Bass went directly, but we overdubbed it lateron with the C3000b. Sax was recorded with C419, using the lid of my keyboardflightcase as isolation. (sounded pretty dead!)(too dead actually but it's good to know I can use that.) And the second sax was recorded with the C3000b too, in another room, lateron.

This is a quick mix. Needs alot of adjusting. Drums have been compressed/gated. Don't feel like playing with those tracks all that much anymore. The mix in the hard-rocking piece at the end needs to be adjusted. Too much guitars for starters...

This gives kindof an idea what we do with our band. We combine alot more styles, but this sound and vibe returns alot. I like it too.
I'm playing saxes...

Enjoy!

Hey roel,

Really like the glass breaking in the background. LOL. Nice way to put some high-end in the mix! :D:D;)

Pretty damn tight for a quickie mix! Nice for a change of pace. Reminds me of Madness, or some really good SKA. Surprise! The distortion guitar. Good song. It's so nice to hear better than avg mixes! I'll never be as cool as you or your band :)

Now finally -- where can I get a pair of sunglasses like yours? Asked before and you didn't say ;)

Chad

So this is how you get woman to take off their clothes!!

That is too cool. Great sax.

Don't forget no sax before a fight. (Rocky VII, I think).

Great sound.

buffering like mad at first so I'm downloading...

While I'm waiting I heard Tom Waits written all over the first 9 seconds. That pleased me and is probably why I'm downloading it....

coffee anyone?

ahhh...beer...be right back...

well it's going at 4k on very fast cable so NWR must be getting whacked right now. I'll try and check it out later. Sorry friend.

Tom

alright got it...

Ya I love this stuff! It also has a Squirrel Nut Zippers feel to it. Some nice changes too. It wouldn't hurt to post a higher bit rate version would it? Sounds OK at 128, but 256 would be nicer.

OK The Tom Waits thing went away quick. Lost the drum clarity in the fast sections, but that might have something to do with the 128k MP3. I'm listening on monitors.

But I really dug the music! Would like to hear more definition. Kind of a tease here....

I'm trying to hear this thing Roel.. I couldn't stream it on a cable modem.. I'm trying to download it but it's taking a reeeeeaaally long time.. I'll be bach..

too cool! This is drinking music for sure.. that one part reminds me of the band 'Madness'

Lt. Bob is going to like this..

I thought I heard some minor syncopation issues.. The drums sounded a bit dull in the heavy parts, but they sounded good for the most part. I guess you still have to tweak it, but this is a really cool song, no doubt!

Made me want to drink!

the thumb is up!

This sounds like some of that new underground/new-wave-jazz stuff....I like it!90% of what I listen to now is jazz. When this takes off into the fast part it reminds me of those drunken russian cosmonauts that got stranded on Gilligans Island that time,remember?....anyway they were dancing on the tables kicking their legs out like drunken russians do, to this same type of beat right before they passed out.:DCool stuff!

great live rowdy roel music... I love it.

boy..the streaming has been really sucky..eh?

Thanks all of you!

So Metal Klezmer music. hehe. :D

The glass in the background was a fun part to record. Took a while to clean up... Broken glass all over the place. The first bottle I threw on the floor bounced back up almost over my head. And there was a guy without shoes watching when we recorded that. He left. :D

Chad, the sunglasses... Well, I found them at home. They used to be my dads. Actually, I've got 2. I wonder why my dad had 2 identical sunglasses.

Wow GT... You really think I'm gonna get womans clothes of with this song? Damn... I really wouldn't know, when I'm playing sax on stage I close my eyes. I really gotta get rid of that habit.

Squirrel Nut Zippers?? Gonna try check them out. Never heard of them....

I'm gonna do some more tweaking this weekend, and I'll get some other songs ready too probably... And I'll put it up at higher bit rate too.

So... We got great live rowdy roel music that makes people wanna drink and woman take their clothes off, all in a kosjer way, while drunken russians are dancing on the tables, right before they pass out. Oh well... Close enough. :D

Hey Roel,
...Im trying man........but your song just aint gettin here. Right now im downloading at 440 bytes per sec, ....It's been downloading for 15 min. and ive only got 12% of it. I tell ya man, with the combination of my dial-up conn. and the shit that nowhere seems to be going through...... ......I am this close ( /.\ thats pretty close .......) to chuckin this fuckin thing right down the garbage disposal...... .......ooohhhhhhh, and I can make it fit!!!!!!!!!!     .......I'll try again later bro, sorry G

Klyzma Madness... hm..... is it what I think it is?...... it's a thing you put in your ars right.... hm.... :D

breaking glass was great.... other then that it's way too jazzy for me... :D

it does reminds me of some folk russian tunes.. hm... :D

cheers

i like the 29 seconds that i was able to download. i really dig the sax playing. i actually like the recording real rough and noisy like that for this song. i'll listen to the rest when i can get it.

Metel klezmer music. I've now heard everything. Pretty damn cool my friend

In Wisconsin we call that a polka:D

That was a fun listen Roel. Great party tune. I think you're smart.

After listening to that I have to agree; I think you'd like Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Twist

......let the farking pigeons loose......IM IN!!!!:D ....and i finally got it. ......You can still send me the CD though Roel....that would be cool.:)

...... .......ok, this is what im taking from this. .....soundtrack for a mini flick entitled "An artist's view of hurling".
....the movie begins with a guy completely drunk on cheap vodka stumbling into a restroom (only one b-room in this dump)..... the restroom is a semi-gloss maroon color with stained walls bludgeoned in pornographic graphity. The place reaks a foul stence, but the man is so smashed, he cant tell. The music plays as he slowly works his way to a stall w/ no door. He leans over the filthy toilet and stares through blurry eyes at someone elses half-flushed turd. As the tempo picks up He heaves..... .......and heaves. The distorted guit kicks in and he's in a surrealistic full throttle barfing mode. ........gallons

Kinda reminds me of the scene where Eric Stoltz is in the jazz club bathroom in "killing Zoe" .....

.......cool stuff Roel  :D Definitely great soundtrack material.

was that tooo graphic? ....sorry
