I know this is a dumb question, but will a Behringer 2442A be able to power a set of Mains and Monitors?

It's all I can afford, and I need all those preamps!!

The Behringer 2442A is not a powered console.
You either need active speakers or a separate power amp to drive them.
 
Well then...

Ok then, are there any rack-mountable amps out there that I can hook up to the behringer, thereby turning it into the PA that I want?

I was originally looking for something that my band and I could use as a PA in rehearsal, but still use as a mixing console when recording demos.

Anything?

I use a Yamaha EMX2000 for this purpose. It's been great for us since we use it similarly, live monitors running straight from the board as well as the outs to go to my Delta 101 for recording. But I believe this would be out of your budget. :o :)
