Here's my situation. I have some nice mics, preamps, and compressors, which I track going into an AKAI DPS 16. I would like to get into computer recording and keep it under $2000, without the computer (I have a Pentium 4 2.6). Some options I was looking at:
1) Ensoniq Paris - I know it's an old system, but it's all-inclusive, supposed to sound absolutely fabulous, and you can get setup now for under 1K.
2) Cubase SX and a LUCID converter, but then how do I get into the computer?
I'm looking for (probably like everybody else) a very high quality sounding setup without breaking the bank. I haven't been able to compare the sound of the AKAI's converters to some good stand alone ones, but I'm getting a good sound.
What do you think?
