Help! Is my SB Live faulty?

I just installed an SB Live and now all my Sound Forge recordings are accompanied by a chorus of loud crackles and distortion.

I can't even sample off my CD drive cleanly! Anyone have a clue what's up here? In Nuendo, the recordings of my electric guitar are better, though still full of quiet pops and crackles...

Should I take this card back?

definately take it back man, I love my SB Live and it sounds great, so you have faulty cables or sound card..
