My current setup consists of:

1. Korg Trinity workstation
2. MPC2000XL sampler/sequencer
3. AKAI DPS16 multitracker
4. M Audio BX5 monitors
5. Emu Proteus 2500 sound module
6. Marshall V93M mic

Now I am attempting to invest in an outboard compressor and preamp. Any suggestions within the $400 price range (total)? Are there any other considerations that I may have overlooked based on the gear that I currently have?

Open to any and all comments and suggestions....

Get a used Symetrix 528 off ebay, and send it to Jim Williams @ Audio Upgrades and have him give it the full treatment.

All told, it should set you back no more than $450 or so.



If you need two channels, then I'd go with the DMP3 / RNC combo or something along those lines.
