I recently lost my last pair of headphones, mostly due to cheap materials, although I loved the sound... so, what I'm looking for are versatile closed ear headphones, that I can record and mix with sometimes, and use for listening to music and gaming on my pc at others. The main thing is though, that I want something that's not made of cheap plastic that's going to snap the first time someone with a big fat head tries to listen to the mix. Argggh! The price isn't too important, but I know many of the "standards" run for around 100 bucks. Thanks.

The AKGs definitely look like they have the sturdier construction. My one concern with going that direction is that since they're made specifically for monitoring and mixing (ie, they're real flat) will they not be as good to listen to music and play games through?

i think my AKG 240's are still the best headphones i have ever heard. for anything. they rock.

I have gotten to the point where I use my Etymotics for everything....

While you're checking out the SONY's and AKG's, try on a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro's. Very comfortable, good attenuation, excellent overall response.-Richie
