HD24XR and Onyx 800r...

Hi all.
The setup I'm having issues with is this:
3 x Onyx 800rs -> HD24XR
I've used this in 24/48 mode a few times, no probs. However, I did a session over the weekend where I was using less than 12 tracks, so I figured I'd give the 96k option a whirl.

I set the 800rs to 96k, and the HD to dig in, optical clock.

I got a clock sync (ie the "optical" didn't flash), but the 96k indicator was flashing, indicating that there was no "double fast" bit in the ADAT non-audio stream.

I did a test record before the session, and it all worked, so I just let it slide, but my question is this: Knowing that the 800rs would be outputting double fast ADAT (ie odd bits on odd channels, even on even) but not the extra bit, would the HD24 be recording the full 96k signal, or would it ignore the even stream, recording a "0" for every even bit (and hence negating setting the unit to 96k in the first place)?

Anyone?
