Hard Drives over 120 GB

I have a few weeks experience with recording and that's it. I want to be able to record on the computer.

I recently bought a Dell computer and I am using it for doing my recording (amateur stuff). It has a 120 GB HD (7200rpm), a CD/DVD drive, and a CD R/W drive.

I read through the posts on this board and saw that it is better to have a separate drive for storing audio. I haven't had any problems, but went out to get an additional hard drive. I came home with a 160 GB Western Digital Special edition drive with the 8MB cache. The box includes a Ultra ATA controller to get past the 137 GB barrier.

Is adding this card and hard drive a good thing to do? Is there anything associated with the additional card or getting past the 137 GB barrier that will make this a bad thing? I am now wondering if I should have went with the 120 GB like I had seen mentioned here.

I appreciate everyones input.
