guitar distortion pedal designs???

Hey guitar guys,

Just wondering if any of you have ever tried your hand at making a distortion pedal?

If so, does anyone have any schematics or suggestions that they can bear parting with??

I have already got a design and im just weighing up whether to proceed or if ive got something horribly wrong.
