Green Bullet for Vocals

Has anyone tried the Green Bullet (Shure 520) for vocals?

I'm looking for something that will give me a "gritty," "old" sort of sound. I don't want it to sound ridiculously distorted, like I'm singing through a death metal pedal, just a little bit. Will the bullet work for this?

Also, how do you mount it on the stand?
 
The 520 has a threaded hole in its housing for mounting. It's VERY nasty sounding, which can be just what you want. Direct from a preamp to tape (high Z into the preamp) is dirty, Bullet to guitar amp, miked to tape is VERY dirty.
