Beautiful ain't she?

Plays like a dream! May experiment with other pickups, but very happy with the sound of the guitar itself. Body keeps the sound in the mid range. Not too bright, not to bassy. Took a chance on Carvin cuz I couldn't afford a Conklin since he jacked his prices. Jackson & Halo were well out of my price ranges as well.

I've always wanted a Carvin, but I've never had the chance to play one. My uncle says that they're kind of like the laughing stock for pros, but he likes the quality of his acoustic.

A very nice guitar indeed.

The "pro's" are merely endorsers of the status quo lol

I've had a vintage Les Paul and a new one. The new ones are horrid in comparison. I sold the new one within 2 weeks of buying it. Sold the vintage a while back along with the lawsuit Electra Black Beauty Paul.

I bought a new Strat a couple of years back. It felt like junk compared to my vintage one. Heck it felt like junk compared to the HM Strat and an 86 Jap Strat that I had.

Sold it promptly. Sold the the vintage and the 86 this past year.

I had a Fernandes that I shoulda never gotten rid of - it's what I sold to buy the Paul. BAD mistake that was.

Jackson is losing artists left and right. ESP's are still good as long as you get their custom shop guitars. The product line guitars feel like just that - product line.

I was very impressed with this one. Everything was done right down to the tee. I could not have asked for better craftmanship :)

They set the action right where I asked them to. Very Low! Injured my left wrist many years ago, but the effects of the injury were permanent. Mid to high actions kill me now :(

The ebony fretboard is fast as heck. VERY smooth on the transitions. No buzz, the frets are dressed perfectly. The resonation of the body is right where I had hoped. I mulled over wood selection for weeks til I came up with the right combo for the sound & style I play. Heavy, but not to thick and not outrageous on the highs.

Overall, it weighs it at 8 pounds and it extremely well balanced. I put it up against my strats and Conklin Groove Tool guitars last night. It lived up to my HM Strat and surpassed the Conklins. When my other guitarist comes over, we're gonna compare it to the custom Jacksons he has. He admitted that if it wasn't for the great deals (via equipment trades and buddy deals) he got on his Jacksons, he would have gone with Carvin as well.

The only thing I will probably change is the pickups. They sound better than I expected, but lack a little in the bite department. Not too crazy about going back to EMG actives either - especially since the 707 is the only choice and it's in a bass PU housing so it's not a direct fit. Contacted Seymour Duncan about maybe reviving the Trembucker II parallel axis design for a 7 string. Got my reply back today and wasn't all that impressed with the response:

Parallaxes 7 string can only be made with cut bobbins and glue together it will have a line in the middle and price is $310.00 for the set.

Maricela Juarez

Gotta love the grammar, spelling, and the fact I'd have pickups with a fricking visible slice in them. Nope - not me!

Oh well, I'll experiement with PU's after I try dialing in a few more parameters on my rig. As of now, it's still dialed in for the Conklins. May just be a littel bit of a mid boost that's need.

But, overall, I'm am highly impressed with it. I was doubtful up until it came in. The "pro's" can scoff at me if they want - I'll let them play it and see if they scoff then lol. This isn't a product line model, it's straight from their USA Custom shop :D

i am not a big friend of "fancy dressers" like yours :-) , but I do have a great playing dc127 ... and I would like to state clearly that its a better made instrument than the 2 Gibsons I had (a LP and a Hawk).

I am not too crazy about their pickups, tho ... to much brightness, too analytical and steril. overall - a really great guitar ....

i guess I will throw the zebra in that I have lying around ... should make for a wicked axe
