good soundcards for a foreign user...

i have to begin making music with computer using software like acid, cubase, rebirth... to mixdown in a 4-tracks midisc recorder to play on stage. i'm gonna buy a pentiumIII 500 with an ide hard disk drive and 128 megaRAM, and i have to buy a soudcard with digital in\out. the matter is here in italy i could not find a big choice -of course there's the soundblaster platinum!-
have you some suggestion?
