I went through some of our older recordings and picked this one for you guys to hear. I wish I still had the original tracks so I could go back and edit now that I hear some improvements to be made. I like the feel of the song. The recording was done completely live. Transports me back to the garage everytime I listen to it.

What's with the fuzz guitar?
Sounds like grung meets the RHCP.
Not a lot happening in the highs - it all sounds very mid mud.
Sounds like a good song & the vocals stand out from the instruments well.
You could try some faux mastering to clean up some of the sonics.
Go ahead, try!

Grunge meets RHCP! I like that genre. Yeah I guess I could import it back in and "mess" with it some.
 
I like the feel of the song too. It's a good performance and a cool riff. Vocals are strong.

In terms of the mix, I found the drums to be a bit thin and overly bright (particularly the cymbals), while the rhythm guitar was a bit dark. The wah part sounded great but stood out a bit much based on the level, panning and clarity compared with the other guitar(s).

I'm listening on a fairly crappy set up here, but it's the same crappy set up I listen to all the stuff in here on, so it's a relative comparison on my part and probably not super reliable. I enjoyed checking this out - thanks.

I listened to the second version you posted. Is that you singing Clong? You have a great voice. I agree, the cymbals stick out a bit. There's something about the drum part that seems like it could be done better. Maybe it's the snare drum (?) that sounds sort of cheap? Maybe that's what Heatmiser is describing as thin/bright? I like the song though!
