Hi people,

fresh off the press... here's my latest offering. This is one of the fastest songs I've done and probably one of my fastest production times too (2 days). I think I'm breaking new ground here in terms of style so I'd really appreciate your feedback.

Now I know not all the parts are perfectly in time, but believe me I have the blisters to prove it's not going to get any better ! (one for the bass and one for the drums - owch)

Lot's of fun... all comments/suggestions appreciated.

look for "Immaterial mk1" (second from bottom)

Lemme reach in the sack and go yo funk Funk button. That was a mean lil tune man. I like it all the way thru and I loved "Stop" at the end. Id have liked to hear a little more high hat in the front of the tune like it was later on, but it was really fine... :)

Excellent stuff Dres, really nice sound and tune! (snare might be a little muffly, but outside that)

Hey thanks, glad you enjoyed it.... it was a lot of fun to play.. esp the bass. Hi-hat probably is a little quiet at the start due to the timing be so tricky I probably held back a bit too much ... but this is the best of about 25 takes so I'm not sure I want to touch it again.

The "Stop" thing at the end is cool ... (but I ripped the idea off a friends album)... in fact it almost sounds like a reverse cymbal just prior to this... but it's just me sucking for air !

Thanks for listening

Nice stuff. I really liked the bridge. Mix is just a few tweaks away... minor levels type stuff. No EQ issues that I can hear immediately.

Good subject! ;)

Hey participant ... thanks for listening. Pritty relevant subject for this crowd I thought (and me !). I guess in a sub-concious way the tempo simulates the adrenalin rush of seriously thinking about a $$$ purchase ;)

So help me out please ... what mix tweaks would you recommend ?

I've got a burning question people .... tell me honestly ... is the timing tight enough ?

Oh~yeah!

Very good recording and music. The kick could come up a bit, perhaps it's being overpowered by the bass a little. I don't hear anything wrong with the performance tho, it's a great tune with nice playing!!

AL

A1A2 - all the regulars I see ! Thanks for listening.

Yep I agree . the kick is a bit overwhelmed.

Really good mix man. Groovy little song too.

The timing wasn't bad at all.

Drums were a little quiet, except for the snare.

WATYF

Hi WATYF ... I was waiting for you to show up. Glad you think the drum performance is OK .... (except I didn't break any drum sticks ! ;) ). Unfortunately I can't really re-adjust the individual drum levels without re-recording since it's all one stereo track. I've tried recording the midi from the electric drums and working with that but I've found the timing is nothing like good enough... I do have 4 separate audio outs on the electric kit so I spose I should separate out kick and snare next time.

Thanks for listening powder finger. FYI git is 4 tracks recorded simultaneously, a stereo pair of omni's + NTK + DI'ed pickup .. acoustic is such a pig to record I thought I'd just throw everything I had at it and see what happened.

I'm getting sick of saying this. Maybe I should just make it a key bind. :D

It sounds great. I didn't hear any major timing issues first pass. Maybe a little loose here and there...if you really are looking for it. If it were mine I probably wouldn't worry about it any further :D.

Nice job!

great song. About 9-10 seconds into it, I hear some static or something?? It's nice and tight, i do agree the snare drum sonds like the snares are just a little loose , or muffled. nice vocals. great job !!

Take care, Jason

Thanks for listening jason. I think what your hearing is string slap from the bass (panned right) which I purposely recorded... there's also some vocal noises (clicking) that you might be refering to ?

I'm going to have a look at the drums again tonight.

Cheers

Nice job. It's good to stretch out a bit...so I've heard. I mean, I've never actually done it.

I like when the bass pumps up in the last 1/4 of the song.

Maybe one timing issue, but I'm not even sure about that.

Again, well done, my young optimist. Obviously, this isn't the type of tune that is going to move generations to arms or tears, LOL...but it's cool for what it is.

Hey chris ... Thanks for listening.

I like when the bass pumps up in the last 1/4 of the song.

It's fun to play ... still has me playing the air bass. My pastor asked me yesterday if we could do this at church live !! Could be tricky...I think I might play the air bass to the recording

Again, well done, my young optimist.

Hey .. I'm nearly the same age as you buddy .. do you feel young? ;)

Cheers
